Birch Road Associates is a wealth stewardship advisory practice based in Oakland, California. We operate a digital platform and provide advisory services to individuals, families, and financial professionals.

What Information We Collect

Information you provide directly - When you begin the Birch Road journey, we collect your name and email address. As you move through the guided experience, we collect your written responses to structured reflection prompts covering your relationship with wealth, your values, your impact priorities, and your decision-making anchors.

Information collected automatically - We collect standard technical information when you access our platform, including your browser type, device type, and general usage patterns. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics that share your data with other companies.

Information from advisors - If you were invited to the platform by a Birch Road advisor, we may receive your name and email address from that advisor in order to personalize your experience.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

• Deliver the guided journey experience and generate your synthesis briefing

• Make your journey outputs available to your designated advisor, if applicable

• Communicate with you about your engagement with Birch Road

• Improve the quality and consistency of our platform and advisory methodology

• Build an anonymized, aggregated understanding of how values-driven stewardship decisions are made — this research informs our knowledge base and advisory practice

We do not use your information to:

• Sell or rent your personal information to third parties

• Target you with advertising

• Share your responses with anyone outside of Birch Road and your designated advisor without your explicit consent

How Your Information Is Stored and Protected

Your data is stored on Supabase, a database infrastructure provider that maintains its own SOC 2 certification. All data transmitted between your device and our platform is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Access to your information within our platform is controlled by role-based permissions — advisors can only access the journeys of clients assigned to them.

We do not store passwords. Access to the platform is managed through secure magic links sent to your email address.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the information we hold about you

• Request correction of inaccurate information

• Request deletion of your information from our systems

• Withdraw consent for us to use your information at any time

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 14 days.

Data Retention

We retain your journey responses and synthesis outputs for as long as your advisory relationship with Birch Road is active, or for up to three years from your last interaction with the platform, whichever is longer. You may request deletion at any time.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

• Supabase — database storage and authentication

• Vercel — platform hosting and delivery

• Anthropic — AI synthesis engine that processes your responses to generate structured reflections and briefings

Each of these providers operates under their own privacy and security policies. We do not permit these providers to use your data for their own purposes beyond delivering services to Birch Road.

Children's Privacy

The Birch Road platform is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us, and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our platform and practices evolve. We will notify active users of material changes by email. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
